Personally, I don't get it

I mean, seriously - 16 kids? And they want more? How can two parents effectively raise that many children? We have enough trouble with two kids and two parents! Man-to-man defense and all. Do you think they remember everyone's name? And being pregnant SIXTEEN TIMES?! Given that a full-term pregnancy is approximately 10 months, she has been pregnant for around thirteen years! Holy shit! Can you even imagine the stretch marks you'd get from that many pregnancies? Or maybe there's a limit to the number of stretch marks you can get, because probably after being pregnant ten times your belly just stays stretched out.

I know, judge not lest you be judged but this is just a little bit scary. Don't you think?

Yikes! That is hard to believe. But my grandmother had 13, so I guess I'm definitely in the judging game either. I once figured out that she had been pregnant for ten solid years--and that's assuming no miscarriages. It's hard to imagine, but she once famously said, "it gets easier after five."

Landismom - that's funny. I can't even imagine being pregnant 5 times!

cmhl - you and me both!

Mary P. - I kinda struggled over whether to post this because I don't want to offend anyone. I know I shouldn't judge and if she's happy and the children are cared for, that's great. You're right that the children take care of each other, like the "it takes a village" concept. I also had a blended family of six kids (we did all live together for 4 years until my step-brother and I went to college). It was nuts.

Cori - My mom did that too! Since I only have two, it hasn't really happened to me very often. My brothers are Josh and Steve so when my mom was flustered she'd say "jes, jo, ste . . . whatever! You! Cut it out!"

Oo! Oo! Husband and I read that SAME article yesterday! In fact, Husband told me about it first. I said, "Are they Mormon? Catholic? Crazy?"

"I think all of the above." He said.
