It would be nice, but . . .

When M-Girl was born, a friend of ours gave her a white fleece blanket from L.L. Bean with her name embroidered on it. She has slept with it virtually every night for five years. She calls it her "B" (instead of blanket). Well, she slept over at Super Boy's house on Tuesday night and forgot bring B home. We didn't discover it until bed time last night and Super Boy's family was not home so we couldn't go get it. She actually fell asleep ok without it but came tearfully into my room in the middle of the night saying "I can't find my B! Where's my B?!" Poor baby. I helped her calm down, promised we'd get it in the morning and let her sleep with me the rest of the night.

When she woke up, she sat bolt upright, terror on her face, saying "Where's my B?!" When I explained that it was still at Super Boy's house, she said "Well, can't you call them, have them put it into the phone at their house and then you can pull it out of the phone and give it to me?" I tried to explain to her that it wasn't possible to do that although I don't think she really believes me.

Wouldn't it be cool if you could do that? Think of the possibilities! Of course, the first thing I thought about is how cool it would be if you could order a pizza and not have to wait for delivery . . .

I fully sympathise with M-girl. From I was born until last year (!) I had this pillow. Well, it used to be a pillow, but there were hardly any down left inside it as the years went by.. Anyways, I couldn't sleep without it. At one stage (I believe I had just started school) my mum thought I was too big, so she said to throw it away. In horror, I hid it so she couldn't take it away.
- Night time, and I couldn't find it either! I completely freaked out, and while she, my dad and my sister searched for the beloved pillow, the also unanimously declared that IF we found it, they'd never even mention taking it away again. Eventually I passed out, on my sister's pillow, at around 2 in the morning..

We found it the next day, can't remember where, but I got to keep it.. And I kept it until last year when another 'accident' by one of the kids made it impossible to clean thoroughly.. It must be said that I wasn't quite as attached to it after, say, 16 ;)

That is so sweet! And the phone idea reminds me of the magical TV from Charlie & the Chocolate Factory.

My son has a favorite bear (Mr. Bear), who was briefly lost last week. After a day, I realized that I had just patched it the day before, and he had thrown it in the trash, because, "Mr. Bear broken." Happily, he was rescued, and we explained that Mr. Bear did not need to go in the trash.

If we could do that, I would've had my girls in Chicago pulled through the phone to Hong Kong a looooong time ago! I miss you both so much it hurts. I'm counting the minutes. . .
